It never felt like we were at war with the other faction. Posted: 22 Jun 2020 02:07 PM PDT One of the greatest failings of the "faction war" in Battle for Azeroth was how they completely failed to make it feel like we were at war. The entire time it felt like the war was happening off-screen in optional content like Warfronts, Island Expeditions and the Mission Table. The only real interaction you had with the enemy faction came in the form of the "War Campaign" which exclusively consisted of setting up little clubhouses on the other faction's continent and performing inconsequential hit and run operations. Compare this to Wrath of the Lich King where the war was EVERYWHERE. Every Alliance and Horde settlement was a fortress with munitions, supplies, soldiers marching in formation and guards posted at every entrance. In addition every quest felt like a direct assault against the Scourge with the intention of making gains and pushing forward. Even in Icecrown the heart of enemy territory we had our airships circling around putting pressure on the enemy while the Argent Crusade and Knights of the Ebon Blade pushed inwards. It really felt like we were at war with the Scourge. But in BfA even when the war was supposedly heating up in Tides of Vengeance with the "Faction Assaults" it was still just more hit and run attacks just on a larger scale. Hell even in the raid the Alliance just ran in, killed a bunch of people and left. It never felt like either side was actually trying to make any gains aside from Darkshore. Imagine if they had done what they did in Wrath and both sides had large operational fortresses and a presence in each zone on the enemy continent. The faction assaults could have felt more like pushes to increase pressure on the enemy and it would have really felt like a war. You might say that the Horde had this with Warfang Hold, but that's an exception proving the rule. It's so frustrating that the dev team felt so afraid to commit to the idea of a faction war despite it being the premise the expansion was founded on. In the end all it did was make the story with Azshara and N'zoth feel spread thin as attention had to be diverted towards this thoroughly unappealing faction conflict. [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 22 Jun 2020 04:11 PM PDT Literally every single farming spot on every single server is occupied by groups of botting balance druids with exp turned off. Blizzard adds a time-restricted mount that costs 5 million gold and the only viable way to make gold right now is to be one of the 6 million key boosters or farm all old raids on 20 characters a week. It is just infuriating that I cannot do any remotely time-efficient open-world skinning because 90% of the online players are gold-selling botters. [link] [comments] |
