Process of acquiring corrupted gear in BFA is infinitely worse than legendaries in legion. Posted: 26 Jan 2020 12:00 AM PST I'm not entirely sure if corrupted items have some sort of bad luck protection system but it seems that it's entirely random. I'm in a competitive mythic raiding guild, we have people with 6+ items that played various amounts of time and folks that have none despite grinding for 12 hours a day or more, running 100 dungeons this week and clearing both raid difficulties. This seems problematic to me when coupled with the strength of these items. There are going to be players out there that are unable to compete w folks of similar skill bc rng did not grant them any of the more powerful damage dealing corruptions or none at all. At least in legion you eventually had a cadence for how to acquire legendaries and could grind out a decent one. I realize that it's the first week but guilds in the 100 range will rely on these quite a bit the next 2 months at which point the tier will be on farm and these become less important. It's a shame the acquisition system wasn't more direct since it has a ton of cool mechanics tied into it that make the game more interesting. TLDR: system for acquiring corrupted gear feels awful, large gaps between the haves and have nots. Edit: At least in legion you once you got a shitty one you never had to worry about a duplicate. Posted: 25 Jan 2020 05:14 PM PST My point being; it's really boring when all female trolls share the same face. If players are only going to pick the pretty one, we might as well add more so we're not all using the same damn face. [link] [comments]

An Activision-Blizzard History Lesson for the WoW community Posted: 25 Jan 2020 10:48 AM PST Everywhere I go, on this forum, on r/warcraftlore, on Youtube comments section, I see a pervasive set of lies which have seemingly become universally accepted in the WoW community, despite being very obivous lies with just the slightest research. Now, there is some truth on which these lies are based in a foggy sort of way, you'll see that in the last paragraph here, so I'm not trying to call out anyone or tell anyone they're wrong. It would just be nice if everyone had their facts straight when we have to see them saying it on literally every post, except usually in a bunch of different incorrect ways. So, for everyone who keeps commenting on literally everything that WoW is "bad now" because "Blizzard sold out to Activision" and all of the variations of this idea: - Blizzard ceased to be an independent company in 1995, not just before WoW's release, but even before Warcraft II's release, when it was purchased by Vivendi, a French conglomerate. (Arguably, you could say earlier, it had a few parent companies, but this was the first time it was part of anything bigger then what you'd now think of as a small gaming company) - Blizzard was not bought by any company in 2008, in fact its the opposite, Activision got bought. Vivendi, who had already owned Blizzard for 13 years, purchased Activision in 2008 and merged them into Activision Blizzard. This wasn't a corporation, and neither company gained any control over the other, it was just a division of Vivendi consisting of a few still distinct studios (These weren't even the only two merged into it) , but to be clear: Blizzard had already had the same corporate oversight of Vivendi for 13 years at this point. - In 2013, Activision Blizzard was spun off from Vivendi when a private investor named Bobby Kotick bought it from them, he later relisted it as its own publically traded corporation in 2015. Bobby Kotick is the former CEO and one of the founders of Activision. This, at the most is the moment you could point to Activision's leadership gaining some influence over Blizzard, certaintly not with Blizzard's 1995 buyout nor with its 2008 merger, but perhaps with its 2013 DE-MERGER because Bobby Kotick, who then became CEO of the joint corporation (obviously, he bought the company) might truly be the ghost in the machine all of you are always referencing, but remember Blizzard was exactly the Blizzard we loved during most of its time as an operating unit of Vivendi, and Activision Blizzard was nothing more then a name on a piece of paper to specify an operating unit of a larger conglomerate before it left Vivendi. If you're going to comment, please keep it civil, this is just a neutral history lesson as a public service, I'm not going to debate anyone on the underlying effects. [link] [comments]
