"Player power" design of BfA was an awful experience. Posted: 22 Aug 2020 10:14 PM PDT As BfA (thankfully) nearing it's end I've decided to re-sub to kick-off some of retiring achievments and just try and have fun - this included timing all +15 dungeons and do some casual arena matches. Throughout my journey of pugging lots of 10-14 and 15's I'm constantly astounded by absolute insanity that is the corruption system, I understand that they wanted players to "have fun" at the end of expansion - but does anyone actually having fun with all of these "borrowed power" types of abilities/corruption/trinkets? In raiding enviroment DH's are still one of the best frameworks for Infinite Stars due to insane haste stacking and uptime. In dungeons (given - not very high key level) I look at another DH with 100k overall dps and 45% of his damage is borrowed - meme-beam / lash of the void (from ra-den) / twilight devastation. Not to mention how idiotically powerful TD can work on a tank, sometimes literally taking a shit on every dps in a group with one lucky 36% TD proc and deleting a pack of mobs. All of this would be fine if all this "fun" didn't transitions into PvP scene aswell - remote guidance device (from junkyard) / writhing segment of drest (from raid) both grant some crazy good nuking options, breath of the dying with it's "empowered" major hits and it's minor that scales with haste. But the worst offender is probaby the Gushing Wounds corruption on a low gcd / high haste class, an undisplellable dot that will eat through most things and can be ticking on several player / pets at once, creating immense pressure on anyone afflicted. I've never been a high-end pvp player, but in my mind PvP meant a battle between two player classes and not two secondary systems. All this said - the entire BfA design felt as if classes weren't "the full experience" but merely a framework for secondary systems, and all of them couldn't have gone away sooner - ain't going to miss the bloody necklace and it's essences, not going to cry for the loss of corruptions. All of the frustrating decision made by blizzard and costant awe of "who approved this?!" throughout the expansion will hopefully never repeat... atleast at such a big scale. [link] [comments]

Glass: An immersive and minimalistic chat UI for WoW Posted: 22 Aug 2020 06:01 AM PDT Hi /r/wow! I want to share what I've been working on for the past few weeks: Glass! My first World of Warcraft addon. It's an addon that replaces the default chat UI with something that looks and feels bit more modern. You can check it out on CurseForge here: https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/glass I'm the type of WoW player that spends hours tweaking their UI, and something that always annoyed me was how dated the default chat UI looked. I know there are addons that let you customize the chat frame, but I was never satisfied with the end result. I finally decided to buckle down, learn Lua and WoW addon development, and build my own chat UI. My goal was to make a chat UI that got out of my way. If I didn't need to see it, it shouldn't be there. More than that, it should look less 2004 and more 2020. My main inspiration was the chat from CS:GO's Panorama UI. Please let me know what you think. And if you run into any issues, please reach out either on CurseForge, or here. I would really appreciate it! UPDATE: Thanks so much for all your feedback! Just FYI, you can find all issues/feature requests on GitHub. [link] [comments]

The current problems of Retribution Paladin in Shadowlands beta Posted: 22 Aug 2020 08:16 AM PDT I am kinda surprised that there weren't any complains about Retribution paladins in Shadowlands on this subreddit. Maybe it's not as bad as WW monk, but it still has issues. I am no game development expert, but it feels like Blizzard didn't invest enough time in Retribution compared to other classes. The best example would the covenant abilities. 2 covenant spells use baseline abilities which makes it not very creative and boring, third one feels wrong and fourth one is weird. Anyway, here is a summary of what's wrong with Retribution paladin in Shadowlands: Covenants.
Dead talents. There are at least 4 of them, not sure if that is a lot with current class design standards. Those talents are:
There is also talents that just don't work with each other. Those talents are: Execution Sentence, Seraphim, Inquisition. These talents have the same function. They are holy power spenders that increase our damage done by X% amount for Y seconds. All of them have GCD and cost 3 holy power. Blizzard said that they gonna fix this issue, but that was few months ago, so we will see how Blizzard can keep their promises. The "Great" Unpruning. This one is my favorite one. Retribution paladin didn't gain much from unpruning. Actually it's quite the opposite, we got nerfed. Here are the examples:
The AOE potential of Retribution paladin.
I really hope that Blizzard will change something. I actually don't care that much about covenants, I just want the base spec work properly. Feel free to disagree to correct me. I don't like creating threads, especially the negative ones, but it seems that complaining a lot is the only way to get something fixed. I want to play this game and have fun. I want to be excited for the Shadowlands, but the current class design won't let me. tldr: Covenant spells are boring and uninspiring for Rets. Too many dead talents. Too many talents that don't work with each other. Retribution's utility and mobility got nerfed because of unpruning. Retribution spec currently has no aoe potential. [link] [comments]
3 (three!) war resources emissary reward in a row is bullshit. Posted: 22 Aug 2020 07:20 PM PDT In US servers, now all 3 of emissary rewards are war resources. Seriously I think there is a need for more meaningful reward at this stage of expansion to keep people playing. [link] [comments]
