The Reforged fiasco makes me honestly fear for Shadowlands.

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 07:08 PM PST

While Battle for Azeroth had its own fair share of issues, most would agree that they largely resulted from misguided development process rather than genuine lack of effort and quality control.

However, in the past few days it has become apparent that a game released by Blizzard Entertainment in 2020 may easily suffer from a massive array of formerly unprecedented problems drastically affecting overall production value:

    • Actually lacking presentation compared to announcement trailers. One trait of Blizzard games that was /never/ compromised upon is attention to visuals, audio and theatrical directing. Today, this tradition has been violated with the visual aspects of Reforged being inconsistent and not true to original.

    • Copious networking and performance issues. Throughout the entire Battle for Azeroth and particularly from Nazjatar onwards, players often experience server lag and stability issues in multiple scenarios where it's not warranted by any means, something that was not a case in Legion. Further lack of attention to the technical side of an MMO can be hazardous.

    • Features cut out or drastically reduced in scope and extensive "technically legal" disclaimers applied. Shadowlands does not have many features announced to begin with, and certainly nothing that seems radically different to current content, but it doesn't mean they cannot be scaled back further. Torghast, for example, may easily end up a minor activity done once a week without any real variety to it, on the scale of horrifying visions which were an interesting experiment but by no means an expansion-defining feature.

    • Changes to the EULA to inhibit user-created content and forcibly claim ownership of it. Of course, World of Warcraft does not have level editors, but such policy in terms of an MMO might expand to video coverage of the game, fan art, or criticism. Addons may also be impacted adversely: imagine Blizzard directly appropriating and integrating crucial interface mods without consent of their creators.

    • Negatively affecting experience in legacy content. We already see how entire systems and major questlines get purged from previous expansion packs because the developers are unwilling to support them. Levelling squish may easily become an excuse to gradually purge old unsupported content of previous expansions entirely, as was the case with classic client for Warcraft III, completely displaced by the new one with drastically reduced amount of features even for users who have not bought Reforged.

    • Outsourcing of various aspects of development and quality assurance. While not necessarily a bad decision in its own right, it takes extra effort and supervision to verify that different teams working on the same project do, in fact, coordinate their efforts properly, otherwise the project will become a disjointed Frankenstein's monster of parts that do not mesh well together.

    • Drastically shortened external testing and rushed development time to meet deadline. BfA had a prolonged beta test which, however, suffered from not being able to actually take critical user feedback into account. Now imagine a situation similar to Reforged, in which critical features are introduced literally weeks before launch. Needless to say, I personally will watch the beta testing very closely, and would not hesitate to raise an alarm in any case of obvious negligence.

Dear Blizzard please delay the Shadowlands expansion if it's the only way to make it really amazing

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 10:51 AM PST

I've heard that not only the content has been cut from 8.3 because it was delayed but they're also thinking about cutting content from Shadowlands because it's delayed as well. Please for the love of god DON'T cut content from next expansion even if it's going to be delayed. I'd much rather wait patiently for you guys to release something truly amazing even if it's going to take additional months of development then to have Shadowlands be another ultra hyped expansion like BFA and turn out not that good as people thought it would be. Then you will have people complaining for whole expansion that "it's boring", "it had so much potential", "they half assed it" and more. Please guys don't rush things and make them REALLY good and memorable instead.

"link corruptions" is the new raiderio score

    Posted: 31 Jan 2020 12:44 AM PST

Running high M+ this patch has become even more silly, we have raiderio score and the new "link corruptions" req.

As only of many who only got trash corrptions, I will have to sit for weeks until I EVENTUALLY GET LUCKY with an OP corruption. YES GETTING LUCKY has become the core mechanic of the game now.

And don't compare titanforging with the absurdity we have now, you didn't deal 20% more DPS just by getting +10 ilvl from titanforging. Beyond tilting.

Mythic Ra-den resets, exploit or no?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 12:56 PM PST

Ra-den resets extremely quickly compared to other bosses. Method (and possibly Pieces) abused this by resetting the boss multiple times and stacking a buff on the warlocks that doesn't drop off between resets. This means by the time they pulled, their warlocks (Method & Piesces were running 4 warlocks) were bursting 200K+ openers, which allowed them to push past certain mechanics and save lust for later in the fight.

Blizzard's response has been that they weren't awake to catch this issue.

The experience of being a returning player in 8.3

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 10:01 PM PST

Are you thinking about returning to WoW in 8.3 for some raiding? Do you perhaps have some friends that are currently playing and are eager for you to join them? Well let me tell you now that if you want to raid mythic you are going to be several weeks of dailies and grinding behind and that it is NOT worth it.

I am an old WoW player, and while I wasn't exactly a raider in TBC I still had a lot of fun questing blindly in stranglethorn. No my first raiding experience was in MoP. I was a mistweaver monk doing normal SoO with my Timeless Isle gear and I was having the time of my life. In WoD it was mostly the same and it wasn't until Legion came out that shit really hit the fan.

In Legion I mythic raided for the first time and god was it fun. Everything was hard and stressful but when you finally got it right and killed that boss it was very rewarding. I never made any alts back then since I was fully content with my Frost DK and the extra grind for your artifact levels seemed annoying.

Fast forward to 8.3 in the already messy pile of liquid shit that has been BFA. My friends have been playing very religiously in 8.2 and they are excited for 8.3 due to all the new features and they say "Hey you should come back and raid with us!". I had been on the fence since I didn't enjoy 8.1 and I didn't enjoy 8.2 either but hey new patch new possibilities. So I ask my friends "Oh right essences are a thing, are they account-wide yet?" and well you already know the answer to that.

So there I am coming into 8.3 with an already negative perspective of things because before I can start the NEW AND EXCITING CONTENT I'll be forced to farm essences and neck levels. And so I think, well I do have a character boost lying around so since I'm pretty much starting anew I could use it! And that's how my poor shaman got her start.

I immediately want to know what's new with the patch since I am pretty much going in blind and I am immediately greeted by the Void Assaults in Uldum and Vale. Okay so like weekly bonus objectives that's... okay? Oh and what's this? Dailies? That's kind of dull... But hey, Breath of the Dying rank 3 is pretty much a BiS essence so what do you know the dailies are pretty much mandatory if you want to keep up with the other DPS. So by this point I've already looked at what are the BiS essences for Elemental AND Enhancement shaman and I started farming for Blood of the Enemy. Now you might think that this is the part where I whine about blood farming, but that ain't it chief. It was alright! I spent SEVERAL hours a day grinding so that I could reach 30k in about a weeks time and when I did I was content. That was until I noticed that my DPS was still severely lacking. And not only that other people were reaching astronomical numbers. That's when I found out corruption gear now existed.

Gone were the days of 40 item level titanforging, now replaced with 120 ilvl DPS equivalents all stored in neat little packages of RNG. "Well fuck that's another thing to keep my eye on" I thought. And then I began farming the rest of my essences, Worldvein, Purification protocol, Conflict and Strife, Focusing iris, Condensed Life Force. I noticed a disturbing trend: They were all FUCKING TIMELOCKED. As a returning player wanting to get into raiding I am WILLING to put TIME AND EFFORT into my character to get it ready for raiding ASAP. But Blizzard is not ALLOWING me to gear up at a speed relative to my effort even with older essences that have been in the game for several patches.

So here I am. We cleared heroic today. I did not make the mythic team and I probably never will since by the time I get all my essences they will already have an established team. BfA is alt-unfriendly to the point that it's literally not worth putting in the time and effort to create a MAIN character. I've gotten everything that I am able to get essence-wise in this span of time and now I am forced to wait for weeks to pass by waiting for essences while my friends are progressing mythic.

What I am getting at is that the game in its current state is so poorly designed for returning players and alts that to do comparable DPS you will be set back a minimum of around 3-4 weeks of dailies and weekly objectives. It hasn't been fun for me to realize that I will most likely not get to progress with the mythic team, not because of my own lack of skill or dedication, but because I am timegated by arbitrary unecessary requirements that should've been alt-shared decades ago.

In conclusion if you are planning on returning to WoW in 8.3 to raid then prepare to be set back 3-4 weeks from essence farming alone. Not to mention all the corrupted pieces that are completely RNG but detrimental for your DPS. Or Azerite Pieces that are also VERY luck dependant and non-farmable. BfA is a shitfest and 8.3 hasn't really made much to change that. There are many other things that I also want to bring to light like how gearing would have been pretty much impossible for me had I not had guildies and friends to boost me through M+ with my pathetic weakened state, but I will leave it as is for now.

Titan Research Resets on Server Transfer - GMs Not Helping

Titan Research Resets on Server Transfer - GMs Not Helping

I and several others have transferred their characters to different realms, including changing their factions in some cases only to find out that the Titan/Mother research tree levelled by farming corrupted mementos has been reset in varying degrees - without being refunded any corrupted mementos.

This effectively means that all the work we've put in farming these as part of our character's progression is halted until the GMs help out. But they have not. After waiting for a couple days for a GM to respond to my ticket I received the following response and had it marked as "resolved"

    https://preview.redd.it/ohftmwf861e41.png?width=1201&format=png&auto=webp&s=a502e7f1663a450e9158821fa8d312b71bca5b8c

Looking at their Bug Reports Forum, we've had several threads about this issue for about two weeks now with no resolution and mostly no response:

    https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/missing-research-after-character-transfer/422298

    https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/transferred-character-and-now-missing-mothers-research/421446

    https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/mother-research-reset-when-i-transferred/423870

    https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/faction-changing-screws-titanic-research/419900

Its incredible that Blizzard can screw something so essential and fail to hotfix it immediately along with failing to provide any information on when/if we can expect this to be resolved.

So the new raid weapons are kinda good against turtles especially.

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 07:51 PM PST

This is probably gonna be hotfixed oh well, so the 'Cycle of Life' world quest (the one where you're the crab) puts you in combat which makes the Sk'shuul Vaz (Maut axe) explode every 30 seconds which kills the turtles! First time I have ever had fun doing that tedious world quest. I'm not sure if it'll work on the 'Beachhead' one though.
