Dear god y’all, you need to be more understanding with tanks

    Posted: 23 May 2020 06:27 PM PDT

I get that I'm new and not super amazing at tanking, like I get it, I do. But in order to be a good tank, I have to learn. I've only been playing this game a few months, so sorry I'm not some super expert. Underrot +3 and they kept pulling everything i mean they were pulling LITERALLY every mob which obviously is the exact OPPOSITE of what you're supposed to do and one of the DDs started PSTing me about how "YOU ARE GARBAGE NEVER TANK AGAIN JUST UNINSTALL" but dude I can't learn mechanics and be a good tank if you're being this aggressive and pulling everything, I can only handle so much. I might just go healer from now on. All I'm saying is, I know you've heard it a thousand times, but please be at least a LITTLE more understanding to tanks. Thanks.

I spent an hour and a half in an 11 yesterday

    Posted: 23 May 2020 12:04 PM PDT

I went into a mythic 11 yesterday hoping to farm some Echoes of Ny'alotha. When I happened upon a mythic 11 Atal dazar, I queued up, and got accepted as I am a fairly geared tank with a decent IO of 2k with no intention of pushing farther. Before I go on, this is a story of helping people.

I got into the group and they immediately told me that this was a carry group, and that if I wasn't up for it, they wouldn't hate me if I left. And so I stayed, they invited me into discord, and I hopped in with them. Turns out, all but one of them, had started the game less than two weeks ago. I have a soft spot for new players, so I helped them for an hour and a half in the dungeon, learn the mobs, their rotations, ect ect. And even for an hour and a bit afterwards I helped the warlock learn casting and moving. I had a blast.

They kept telling me that they were lucky they ran into me, because I was actually helpful. I don't think I am the best person to help people learn their classes or the game, but I do everything I can when I see new players. I invited them into the community I am in, they can join my guild alt raids now, they have sources to pull from for their BIS items, talents, azerite, and corruptions that they didn't have before, and so on.

My point is, one thing they were saying was, most people were not receptive to them being new, and either rage quit their group or just left before pulling. I don't understand why people can be so rude about new players rather than helping the community grow. Personally, I love seeing others succeed in the game, new drops, gearing, ect. I know a lot of people don't, but I still don't understand why.

Anyway, that's the story of how I met 4 hilarious Americans, and how I taught 3 of them to play wow better.

Edit: Thank you all for the comments and the kind stranger for the gold! I appreciate all the people saying I am a good person, but I feel like it is mostly just common courtesy to help others. For all with the argument about how they shouldn't be in the key level, the real question is that somehow, one of the did something below and chested it, then they decided they needed the gear from the weekly chest. It was a really fun time to game with these fellows, and most of them added me to my friends list. I have made a lot of friends this way, and even a few of them have made it to roughly 3.5k Rio and ALWAYS ask me if I need help with dungeons, there are nice people out there, and the people on my friends list are a good testament to that. Please please please ask for help if you need it, people are willing to help if you ask.

[Preach Gaming] How is The Covenant System So Far?

    Posted: 23 May 2020 04:55 PM PDT

    Mindset of wow players.

    Posted: 23 May 2020 10:27 PM PDT

I am not a raider. I much prefer mythic plus, but as a brewmaster I need the Bloodthirsty urchin from mythic ashvane. So tonight I had the pleasure of a mythic EP raid.

It just seems like so many people are really punishing against any mistakes in the raiding scene. First of all it was a pure pug (aside from 2 DPS I brought in). So I was expecting a decent amount of mistakes.

As soon as someone made one slip up they would either blast them in raid chat asking for a kick or whisper me to kick them.

I have a few issues with this. The first issue is that if you kick everyone who makes one mistake they are going to make that mistake for the rest of their life as they learn nothing by being punished and not taught. The other issue is that if you do kick those players they may be too scared to ever try again and that really devalues the playerbase as a whole.

Just wondering as a nonraider why does this mentality permeate through raids.

Btw we eventually did it. Most bosses took 3 or 4 pulls. But I can promise you. People learned in that raid. Progress was made. Cause I refused to just throw people aside.

    Cheers all.

Blizzard, if you want people to actually pick the covenant of their choice, why not give each covenant the same abilities for each class just with special type of flair pertaining to that covenant?

    Posted: 23 May 2020 11:09 PM PDT

Incase my title is worse on here than it sounded in my head, basically what I'm trying to say is why not give x ability across the board to arms warrior (for example) and depending on the covenant it just looks different? I don't know about other people but I'm choosing my covenant based on the best endgame content that only true WoW players understand (transmog) and I don't wanna be kicked out of a raid or mythic plus simply because I choose the covenant I liked the most.

Found another Paladin with the same transmog as me in Stormwind, so naturally we're having a stare-down.

Suggestion: Failed bonus rolls should award you with Echoes of Ny'alotha

    Posted: 23 May 2020 08:41 AM PDT

It could be nice addition as Blizzard implemented same mechanic in last Legion patch when failed bonus rolls awarded you with 'Wakening Essence' currency for Legendaries.
Artifact Power right now is almost the least meaningful 'currency' and this change would improve getting desired corruption/essence.

Hunter class fantasy ramblings from a Hunter main since TBC

    Posted: 23 May 2020 12:54 PM PDT

    • What is the Hunter fantasy? Maybe I'm alone here, but I don't play the Hunter class out of a desire to do magical things like shoot people with Arcane bolts or blast them away with magical explosions. I play them because I want to do cool shit with a bow/crossbow/gun. Whether that be blotting out the sun with a hail of arrows, or sniping a lone target from across a field, I just want more ways of doing regular marksman things, albeit in an epic way. Granted, pets are also an important part of the class fantasy, and Survival Hunters have their own thing going on too, but I'll get to those in a minute.

    • Lack of unique animations. When each class got unique animations for their abilities during Legion, Hunters got some cool stuff in the form of new melee visuals for Survival and Bestial Wrath/Kill Command animations for Beast Mastery, but nothing that actually amplified the fantasy of a ranged weapon user. Where's the iconic "kneeling down to take a shot" pose for Aimed Shot? How about an animation where we aim our weapons to the sky and then fire rapidly for Volley? Maybe have us visibly nock multiple arrows onto our bows for Multi-Shot, or recoil noticeably from the blasts for gun users?

    • Pets need more unique animations. Unlike Warlocks and their demonic counterparts, Hunter pet animations are extremely limited, making them feel less like the wild companions they're supposed to be and more like mindless auto-attack bots. While this would certainly be a much larger project to tackle that could span several expansions, I think giving each pet family a unique spell and animation akin to Warlock demons would do wonders to make Hunters more visually appealing. Imagine a falcon swooping up into the sky and then dive-bombing an area, for example, or a stag charging headfirst into an enemy with its antlers!

    • Lack of visual cohesiveness. I think Hunters need a major pass on what their shots are actually supposed to look like in game. It's always been jarring to me that our shots will look like a bright, heavenly gold barrage one minute and a dark red rapid fire the next with very little consistency in between. When you look at the spells for other classes like Mages and Warlocks for example, there's a clear visual identity there - Frost Mages will always have snowy blue ice, and Demonology Warlocks will always have wispy purple effects, even though each spell is unique in its own way. It would be nice to see Hunter VFX unified also.

    • Survival Hunters need to be reexamined thematically. They're meant to be lone rangers surviving on the fringes of civilization, armed only with the most basic of melee weapons and an animal companion to fight with... yet they have gadgets, gizmos, and explosions; not to mention their two-handed weapon restriction keeps them from fighting like the character that the entire spec seems to be based off of (Rexxar). Why?

    • Movies, TV shows, and other video games could be a great source of reference. Finally, I think Hunters could be vastly improved if Blizzard looked to other fantasy media for inspiration, be it for visuals or actual spell mechanics. For example, Lord of the Rings has an archer character named Legolas who uses arrows as impromptu melee weapons to stab at oncoming enemies, and Susan Pevensie from the Chronicles of Narnia uses her bow as a blunt object to knock foes away when she's not using her arrows as throwing knives. Lots of cool stuff there that could make the class both more visually and mechanically interesting!

What is the weirdest thing you've seen in WoW? Whether it's a game feature or people?

Today I saw a goblin dressed in a purple suit, hat, and a cane walking around with several level 1 taurens following him. He was shouting around that he's selling fresh beef.

    Nexus, a fanmade expansion concept

    Nexus, a fanmade expansion concept

    Ahoy!

    https://preview.redd.it/3cbmp3hlwo051.png?width=550&format=png&auto=webp&s=a9fe9a9d55622c0066a00e3209a4aafe8b0e2019

This is an expansion concept I started some years ago and thought I could share it with you guys. It's pretty much still a wip, I have much to write. It was also previously named "The Twofold Light" but it got a well deserved revamp.

This concept has been posted in MMO Champion as well for quite some time, which is where I notify people of updates. I keep most of the info though in a doc, where you can also leave comments. It used to be a blog but the doc is much easier to manage and the sidebar navigation works wonders.

Nexus is something you could call an "Outlandish" expansion because it's set in the Twisting Nether, just like Outland (yay, floating islands again!). The general felling of it should be like Mists of Pandaria. Remember the feeling of discovery, new lore, fresh stuff, with no marked big bad guys around (sorry, Garrosh). Instead, I want Nexus to be something you could say it's new and refreshing.

So well *unfolds a large map scroll* here's were we'll head to in the expansion!

    https://preview.redd.it/b50sxdjowo051.jpg?width=2480&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9a5e5e66b19acce90d40beb04d099c149adcbf6e

How do we get here, though? It's a long story.

The naaru A'dal receives a signal coming from the Twisting Nether and summons Turalyon, Ishanah, Liadrin and Voren'thal among others to discuss the news in Shattrath. A'dal reveals the signal comes from a collapsed planet named K'aresh and that the emissor is M'ara, one of his brethren. Turalyon sees this as an opportunity to bring greatness to the Alliance, and bends A'dal's reunion into an uncomfortable Alliance bias that the Blood Elves notice.

Turalyon arranges further meetings exclusively with A'dal and the Aldor. Lady Liadrin and the Scryers, on their part, bring word to Lor'themar Theron of the ongoing events. The Lord Regent calls the Convocation of Silvermoon, adding not only Liadrin and Voren'thal as part of the government of the city, but also Tae'thelan Bloodwatcher to strengthen their people.

Alleria has in the meantime mobilized Anduin and other groups of the Alliance to join A'dal's campaign. Anduin argues that it would be a wise idea to start negotiations with the Ethereals in Netherstorm if they are to initiate an expedition to K'aresh. The leaders of the Horde, who had been alerted by Lor'themar, sent spies to gather intelligence from the Alliance. Gallywix suggests embittering the Alliance's negotiations into the Horde's benefit. The Goblins of Area 52, properly blackmailed by the Steamwheedle Cartel, spread incriminating rumors among the Ethereals to create suspicion on the Alliance. In spite of this, Turalyon bonds with Commander Ameer, the Leader of The Protectorate and exherts his conviction to make Ameer's Ethereals join the Alliance in their cause. Nexus-Prince Haramad and the less zealous Ethereals who suspect of Turalyon's motives (secretly influenced by the Goblins), and after having a discussion with the Scryers and the Horde, see a very profitable opportunity in joining the Horde.

Without further ado, the Alliance begins preparations to depart in the Vindicaar towards A'dal's designated location. The Horde, however, does not have a vessel with which journey across the Twisting Nether and resorts to claim Tempest Keep through a mutiny against the Aldor inside the spaceship. This deals a strong blow to the Alliance, who cannot but see how the Tempest Keep warps away in front of their eyes.

While the Alliance has a safe and steady but disheartened voyage to K'aresh, the Horde has a dangerous and turbulent but triumphant space dive into the Twisting Nether with no directions or coordinates.

Set foot on an ancient shattered planet and unveil the secrets of K'aresh!

So what else does Nexus have?

    • Ethereals as a new playable neutral race
    • Tinkers as a new playable hybrid class: Siegecrafter (Tank), Medic (Healer), Specialist (Ranged DPS)
    • Iodari (Horde) and Rakzash (Alliance) as new unlockable allied races
    • A third new Demon Hunter specialization: Oblivion
    • K'aresh, a new world in the Twisting Nether with 8 new massive zones to explore
    • Cyphers, a revamped story driven artifact system
    • Infusions, a new corruption system coming in x.2
    • New PvE challenges: 16 new dungeons and 6 new raids over 3 tiers
    • Confront uber PvE bosses in The Holosphere raid and infinite challenges in the Endless Halls of Dal-Karos

Be my guest and join me as I continue writing up Nexus <3

I'm eager to know what you think! Feel free to ask any questions here or on MMO Champion!

    Love you!
