Is Blizzard going to address the growing PvE faction imbalance?

    Posted: 14 Aug 2020 02:44 AM PDT

I play on Ravencrest-EU, one of the biggest Alliance EU servers. Yet every tier it feels smaller and smaller.

Half the guilds on the front page of WoWprogress have already moved to Horde this tier. It was the same last expansion, and it will be the same next expansion.

These guilds use boosting gold to pay for these transfers. If I wanted to transfer my characters, it would cost me £460 ($600). I will sooner quit the game than pay that cost.

I don't raid anymore, but I do M+ often (~4.5k io), where arguably the situation is worse. The community for higher level keys is barren. The alliance m+ community is so small, I'm top 250 of my class in alliance, but barely breaking top 1k when you add in Horde as well (worldwide).

This is only going to get worse as each tier goes on. Guilds are unable to recruit good alliance raiders, so they move to horde. People are unable to find good alliance guilds as they have all swapped, so they move to horde.

In 1-2 expansions alliance pve will be dead (more than it is now). You can already see it with the hall of fame, alliance top 100 is months later.

In the top 100 guilds to kill N'zoth, 15 of them were alliance.

Hopefully Blizzard can see the writing on the wall and change something, although I think it's already too late.

Exiles Reach: Please teach players who to use CC, interrupts, and more abilities.

    Posted: 13 Aug 2020 12:06 PM PDT

I just finished leveling a warrior in exiles reach. I feel as though the tutorial does not help new players enough. For instance, at some point there should have been a popup that instructed me to use pummel when an enemy was casting. There should also be other teaching moments. Ogres throughout the island were attacking me with big physical attack abilities. There should have been a moment while fighting them in which a popup instructed me to use shield block to mitigate the melee attacks. For other classes, mages for instance, maybe you are instructed to approach two mobs. A popup instructs you to sheep one, then cast frostbolt.

I think players should understand their abilities a bit more before jumping into the starter dungeon. Adding teaching moments for interrupts and maybe some cc is a good thing. Maybe this is to much for new players to grasp in the first 10 levels. If that is the case extend the tutorial through BfA since new players have to go there anyways. New players should understand how to use more of their baseline abilities. They should understand important mechanics like CC and interrupts.

Feedback regarding the exiles reach dungeon:

New players should understand the dynamic between tanks, healers and dps. Before you reach the dungeon you hit level 10. At this point the game should instruct you to pick a specialization and explain the roles. At that point you should queue with that role in mind. NPC AI should fill the other roles to lower queue times. NPCs should also instruct the players properly throughout the dungeon(avoid fire, stuff like that). Once you enter the starter dungeon the game simply tells players to go crazy. New players will take this to heart, go into real dungeons, pull like crazy(because that is what the tutorial dungeon is teaching them), and then get booted for from groups. Blizzard is setting up new players to fail by not teaching them the gameplay surrounding dungeons.

edit2: fuck, just noticed a typo in title.. Meant to say "Please teach players to use CC, interrupts, and more abilities"

PTR/BETA: Hunter's Mark still feels bad.

    Posted: 13 Aug 2020 08:50 AM PDT

I have no idea why this spell is back in its pre-WoD iteration, and not even as its Legion variant. It's so annoying having to press this button so frequently.

It makes target switching feel bad. You can't macro it, because it's on the GCD for some reason. Yet you need to use it, since a flat 5% of your DPS is tied to the ability.

Blizzard said they were going to work on tuning down the amount of buttons required to press before starting a rotation. But it's even sometimes bloated on Hunters. For an AoE burst you have Hunter's Mark, Tar Trap, Flare, Resonating Arrow, Volley, and then your spec cooldown. (Coordinated Assault, Trueshot, Bestial Wrath, Aspect of the Wild). All of it is on the GCD.

Hunter's Mark isn't even that good as an anti-stealth PvP tool. Rogues can dispel it so easily, so it only really counters Feral Druids.

Most of the Hunter rotation ranges from good to tolerable. It's pretty much just their gimped target switching that needs fixing. Here are 4 options that'll make it feel good:

    1. Remove the 5% damage buff, and keep it as an anti-stealth tool for those niche encounters. Buff Hunter ST spells by 4-5%.
    2. Make it back into a passive like it was in Legion, have it triggered by their main Focus spender.
    3. Remove it from the GCD.
    4. Remove it completely.

Am I playing WoW "wrong"? (brand new player)

    Posted: 13 Aug 2020 09:23 AM PDT

So, bear with me, I'm a beginner with wow, I'm playing on the current game, not classic, Dwarf Hunter level 30 never played before, no other characters that's it.

And I wanted to ask if I'm playing "Wrong"?

The reason I ask this is because as a new comer I'm finding the game very boring and repetitive.

I was enjoying dungeons but people always race through them and do the same dungeons over and over so they got boring quickly.

So, after that I returned to just doing world quests, I'm on this quest line now about this cursed pirate crew, It's enjoyable enough I guess but I don't care for the quest storyline, or many quest storylines for that matter and quests aren't very engaging, I often have to walk to very far places just to kill a couple things and walk all the way back.

I spend talents when I get them but ignore pvp talents since I know nothing about them and aren't even interested in pvp, not a part of any guild and my gear is ok I guess?

I honestly don't know, I don't have a gauge on what 'good' gear is most of it is blue which I guess is good but because it's so hard to get a gauge on it I just don't bother worrying about it too much and so it becomes less engaging and fun as well.

I like my bear, and being a Hunter it's what I enjoy most about it but idk, is there something I'm missing?

    EDIT

    33% upvoted LOL love it

    EDIT 2

wow, so much great advice and really nice people I really apreciate it thank you, all the advice has helped a lot as a new player.
